Charles Halperin is one of the foremost historians of medieval Muscovy. He is an independent scholar and resides in Bloomington, Indiana. He’s written several books on early modern Russia, including Russia and the Golden Horde: The Mongol Impact on Medieval Russian History. His new book is Ivan the Terrible: Free to Reward and Free to Punish published by University of Pittsburgh Press.
