Russell Martin is a professor of History at Westminster College focusing on autocracy, marriage, power and the Romanov dynasty in early modern Russia. He is the author of many books and articles including A Bride for the Tsar: Bride-Shows and Marriage Politics in Early Modern Russia.. His most recent book is The Tsar’s Happy Occasion: Ritual and Dynasty in the Weddings of Russia’s Rulers, 1495–1745 published by Cornell University Press.
